Along for the Ride

Along for the Ride
Author: Sarah Dessen
Pages:
My Rating: 5/5 stars

Summary: (From Goodreads)
It’s been so long since Auden slept at night. Ever since her parents’ divorce—or since the fighting started. Now she has the chance to spend a carefree summer with her dad and his new family in the charming beach town where they live.

A job in a clothes boutique introduces Auden to the world of girls: their talk, their friendship, their crushes. She missed out on all that, too busy being the perfect daughter to her demanding mother. Then she meets Eli, an intriguing loner and a fellow insomniac who becomes her guide to the nocturnal world of the town. Together they embark on parallel quests: for Auden, to experience the carefree teenage life she’s been denied; for Eli, to come to terms with the guilt he feels for the death of a friend.

My Review:
Sarah Dessen is an awesome writer. I always love her novels. They are a huge comfort to me, and I just love reading one of her books. Her novels take me on a ride of emotions from happy, sad, sympathetic, mad, and then I always end up feeling so warm and fuzzy. (In a good way!) Along for the Ride is no different-it did not dissapoint one bit!

The one thing that I can always count on with Sarah Dessen is her ability to create a very relatable main character that you always want to keep reading about. Auden is no exception. I sympathized with her throughout Along for the Ride, and she is very relatable. Oh.......Eli. I loved Eli. I have a total crush on him. Yet another thing Sarah Dessen seems to have the magic touch for; creating a very believable but dreamy guy. The other characters were great too, and I feel that every single character held a special part of this story.

Alot of people say that Sarah Dessen has a very similiar style in each of her novels, and the plot is the same in every single one. I can't say I disagree with them, but I also think that Sarah Dessen creates wonderful books about all emotions and relationships, and with Alomg for the Ride, I was holding on to every word. My eyes were glued to the pages.

Overall, yet another great book by Sarah Dessen! Along for the Ride is emotional (and I won't say "emotional" again,) and a very believable and relatable story. I would recommend for anybody to pick this book up, if not any Sarah Dessen book. She was the person who originally got me into reading things "non-fantasy." So, I would recommend this book to anyone.
