Summary: (From Goodreads)
One hour to rewrite the past . . .

For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn’t there: swooning Southern Belles; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents’ death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. She’s tried everything, but the visions keep coming back.

So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not only change her future, it may change her past.
Who is this dark, mysterious, sympathetic guy, barely older than Emerson herself, who seems to believe every crazy word she says? Why does an electric charge seem to run through the room whenever he’s around? And why is he so insistent that he needs her help to prevent a death that never should have happened?

Full of atmosphere, mystery, and romance, Hourglass merges the very best of the paranormal and science-fiction genres in a seductive, remarkable young adult debut.

My Review:
Hourglass is definitely a debut of 2011 that you want to check out, especially if you are looking for something a little fresher in the world of paranormal.

This book was fascinating and mysterious. From the first page I wanted to know what was going on, what was going to happen, and what was up with Emerson! With all of her "hallucinations," let's call them, I was definitely intrigued. This book is intriguing. Definitely. And I won't forget to mention that it is a charming and very amusing read.

Emerson is a main character that has different layers. I felt as if she is a character that you can relate to. She's also tough with a good air to her. She won't take "no" for an answer. Let's not forget how HOT Michael is. I was definitely smitten.

Alas, there is a reason that this book was not rated 5 stars. In my opinion, I feel as if there could have been a little more involved with the plot or the overall idea of this book. (I want to say specific things, but I have to keep my mouth shut so I don't spoil anything!) I felt as if there coud have been a few more "woahs!" involved for me.

Luckily, my few problems did not take over the thought that I liked this book, since the plot did throw me a few times. (Talk about that last plot twist! That completely threw me!) The overall idea did work well with the plot, intermingling just right.

Overall, Hourglass is a book that you should check out. It has a few hot guys, plot twists, and more!

I'm reading this one now and I'm also curious about Emerson's "hallucinations." Michael seems pretty cute though.
