City of Ashes

City of Ashes
Author: Cassandra Clare
Book #2 of The Mortal Instruments
Pages: 453
My Rating: 5/5

Summary: (From Goodreads)
A murderer is loose in New York City ...

... and the victims are Downworlder children. Clary Fray and her fellow Shadowhunters have a strong suspicion that Valentine, Clary's father, may be behind the killings. But if he is the murderer, then what's his true motive? To make matters worse, the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, has been stolen, and the mysterious Inquisitor has arrived to investigate, with his eyes vigilantly targeted on Clary's brother, Jace.

Clary will need to face some terrifying demons and even more terrifying family decisions. No one said that the life of a Shadowhunter would be easy.

 My Review:
Yes! Another awesome book in the awesomely awesome Mortal Instruments series. I was so excited to get my hands on City of Ashes, and it does not dissapoint.

The awesome characters that really brought City of Bones together for me are back! I loved all the characters in City of Ashes, just like in the first book, as they are all unique. I have always admired Clary because she stands up for herself, and won't stand for dismissal. She is so determined, and that is shown as strong as ever in this book. Jace is as crush-worthy and hilarious as ever, and I am glad that this book gave more od a view on Simon, though I like Jace better. Isabelle, Alec, Magnus, Maia were all cool secondary characters, and I, of course, want to read even more about them, too!

The sense of humour in these books is always awesome, and there were many lines that I loved. There are so many, that, just like the first book, made me laugh out loud and tell all my friends. There are lots that sent me into fits of hysterical laughter.

The plot in City of Ashes I found was a little more original than City of Bones, which is something I am glad for. The ending/the last 100 pages were so full of action, and I was bent over the book, my eyes racing through the pages.

Overall, this book was an action-filled hilarious sequel. I cannot wait for City of Glass!
